Let’s talk about open ended toys. They are my favorite of all for all the obvious reasons.
Especially when you have multiple aged kids at home, they are worth your money. You can basically use the same toy for a long time. As the children grow, these toys grow with them. Now, isn’t that every parent’s dream?
These patterns blocks are a knock off from Melissa and Doug toys and is priced at Rs.210.
Now, let’s talk about what can be done with these blocks and what we have done so far.
For 1-2 years : These can be used for sorting and colour matching activities.
For 2-3 years: Can be used to teach shapes.
For 3-4 years: They can be used as manipulatives for their math activities.
For 4-5 years: These can be used with pattern block mats to copy/imitate shapes. It could be a wonderful resource to learn about symmetry. I may have some amazing ideas for that 😉
For 5 and above: Complex shapes can be created. Youclevermonkey has amazing printables on similar lines.
Beyond that our children can use their imagination to make some patterns on their own.
Some of the printables link we have used have been linked below.
