How do we display Children’s artwork at home?

December 18, 2019 by Melani 2 Comments

I have always wanted to have a dedicated art space for my kids.

Given I stay in a small rented space my chances of having it done was very limited.

But, very recently D got interested in art – painting excites him. This meant we have more art work to cherish for many years to come.

Plus, he gets his art work from school as well. His eyes beam with joy when he brings them home to me.

As a mother it is very natural for me to appreciate his work. I didn’t want to stop with that. His art work ranges from Random lines, wavy colors to his favorite Dinosaurs and at times just some splash of colors. There are days D puts his dad to task to help make something with leaves and pebbles from the park – kids and their ways to find little pieces of joy!! D calls the pebbles his ‘stone collection’ – isn’t that cool  🙂

I wanted to put it in a place where we can see them often. And also, subtly remind him that it doesn’t have to be perfect. That way he knows that the beauty lies in the process and not the result.

What better place than somewhere near his art corner itself?

And like I said we live in a rented space which stops us from nailing our walls.

So we used this simple idea of washi tapes, tackits and a white sturdy rope.

I also use this same space to take photos of Myfaktory clothes. You can check out my pics from their insta account here. Plus no nails, win-win 😊

We also have another art corner display at home which is of my son’s height. He gets to decide if a work has to go in that corner. Yes it isn’t adult initiated. And the pegs are easy to clip and unclip for his age.

About the tackits, it is reusable and doesn’t leave stains on our wall. One of my friend even used it for her home décor.

Another reason for me to love this is because it is minimal and clutter free. Plus, a lot of practicality- ease to clip and unclip when crowded.

While you are at this, I also wanted to share how my little boy has progressed in his artwork through the years.

You tell me. Do you have an art display corner? Does it work well for you and your kid? If you have any struggles with it, drop in a comment and we wil sort it out 😊
