How do we choose toys based on Sensitive Periods?

March 15, 2018 by Melani Leave a Comment

Sensitive period to me is to observe and respond.

The more you observe your child the more you will find a pattern.

The more we observe the more we get to know their current interests.

I want to show a simple case of how I observe and respond.

This is what little D built with his baby brother’s squeaky toys.

In the days that followed he tried to balance other uneven things lying around the house.

And then, I gave him this. That is how I respond and that is how we choose our toys based on our current interests.

If you do have some more time to spare I would suggest you go through this elaborate detail on sensitive periods.

This is my favourite part from that article “ This can often be mindboggling to an adult but often the process is more important than the end result to a child. We pour things to move them from one place to another but the child’s focus is on the simple act of pouring in itself.”

If I have to put it my way – The beauty is in the detail and not the outcome. Explore, Experience and Enjoy
