Chocolate Cloud Dough- Why and How to Make

June 24, 2019 by Melani Leave a Comment

Important question- Do you like messy plays or not?

Confession. I don’t. My heart skips a million beats when I see my sons play on wet sand or mucky clay.

But they are the happiest then and I would any day trade my sulk moments for those toothy grins.

Like they say in a Tamil detergent ad ‘Karai Naladhu’ , I have learned to embrace those messy moments.

Maybe in a few years from now, they wouldn’t even want to play on the sand 😉

But I tell you, cloud dough is magic. They are my second favorite next to oobleck.

Cloud dough means an hour of playtime. Easy to make. Just the kitchen supplies.Taste-safe. Takes only a few minutes. And an hour of play time. It’s mold-able, feels like wet sand and mimics kinetic sand to a certain extent. Also, the cleanup is easier compared to kinetic sand.  What’s not to like?

This one from yesterday has cocoa powder added to it for that sandy dumpster ground effect. Add to it some vehicles and it turns out to be super fun for my toddler.

Here is the ratio. 1.5 cups of flour,1/2 cup cocoa powder, ¼ cup oil. Or you could skip the cocoa powder and just mix flour and oil.

We used trucks, you can use shells, blocks, plastic bugs or anything that you think will make the play interesting.

Once the play is done, dump over the spills back into the bin for future play.

I am not sure how long it stays in the storage. We mostly add water to it and use it as paint supplies. Or add them onto ice cubes for more grubby cough messy play.

But don’t let the mess scare you. Try it and spread the cloud dough love. Every child needs to experience this amazing play at least once 😊

Tag me if you try it at home 😊
